Warranty & Care
What our workmanship warranty covers, what it does not, and how to care for interior wood in the Florida climate.
Updated September 21, 2026
1. Workmanship Warranty
We warrant our workmanship for one year from the date of installation, unless a longer period is stated in your agreement. Within that period we return and correct defects in the work we performed at no charge.
2. What Is Covered
- Panels, slats or cladding that work loose from the substrate
- Joinery failure under normal use
- Doors and drawers on built ins that will not hold adjustment
- Finish defects such as peeling or lifting caused by application error
- Hardware installation defects, with manufacturer warranties passed through
3. What Is Not Covered
- Normal seasonal movement, minor gapping at joints and hairline finish checking
- Natural color change over time, which is expected in walnut, cherry, oak and most species
- Variation in grain, figure, color and character marks, which are characteristics of wood
- Damage from water, flooding, standing moisture or plumbing leaks
- Damage from humidity extremes, including a property left without climate control
- Damage from direct or prolonged sunlight, including fading
- Scratches, dents, impact damage and general wear
- Damage from abrasive cleaners, ammonia, bleach or silicone based polishes
- Work altered, repaired or refinished by others
- Material supplied by the client
- Damage from storms, hurricanes, pests or acts of nature
4. Environment
Interior wood work should be kept in a normally conditioned environment, generally 60 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit and 35 to 55 percent relative humidity. Florida homes left closed and unconditioned for extended periods, including seasonal residences, expose wood to humidity extremes that cause movement, joint separation and finish problems. Coverage does not extend to damage from an uncontrolled environment.
5. Expected Color Change
This is normal and not a defect. Walnut lightens and mellows. Cherry darkens considerably in the first year. White oak shifts subtly warmer. Maple ambers slightly. If a picture or piece of furniture has covered part of a surface during that period, an outline may appear, and it typically evens out with exposure.
6. Adjustment Visit
Wood settles into a space over the first year as it acclimates fully. We include one complimentary adjustment visit within 12 months to address any doors, drawers or minor movement. Please collect the small items and request the visit once rather than calling for each.
7. Care And Cleaning
- Dust with a soft dry or barely damp cloth, then dry immediately.
- For slat walls, a vacuum brush attachment or a soft duster run along the reveals works best.
- Use mild soap and water for marks. Never ammonia, bleach, abrasive cleaners or magic eraser sponges.
- Avoid silicone based furniture polish, which builds up and complicates future refinishing.
- Keep direct sunlight off wood surfaces where possible, or expect faster color change.
- Oil finished surfaces benefit from reapplication every 12 to 24 months, and we will show you how.
- Do not hang heavy items from cladding or slats without backing installed for that purpose.
- Keep the home conditioned, particularly if it sits empty seasonally.
8. Acoustic Panels
Where acoustic felt backing is installed, vacuum gently with a brush attachment. Do not use water or cleaning solutions directly on the felt, and do not press hard enough to compress it.
